PATERSON, NJ - The American Red Cross is currently helping eight families who were evacuated as a precaution following a roof collapse in a four-story commercial building across the street from their homes on Gray Street in Paterson.

Five volunteer members of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to assist the families whose homes are located in the collapse zone. The Red Cross is helping eight families, consisting of a total of 20 people, with emergency assistance for temporary lodging and food.

All emergency assistance is free to those affected by disasters and is made possible through the generous donation of time by Red Cross volunteers and the generosity of the American public.
