Reverend A. Craig Dunn was born and raised in Montclair and attended the Montclair Public Schools. Upon graduating from Montclair High School, he attended Villanova University in Villanova, Pa. from 1978-1981 and later transferred to Ohio State University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication in 1983. Rev. Dunn is a two time graduate of Drew Theology Seminar with a Master of Divinity (M.Div) and a Master of Sacred Theology (SMT).
Reverend Dunn was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1991 at the St. Paul Baptist Church, Montclair, NJ and ordained at the New Hope Baptist Church in East Orange in1998. Prior to his election as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Madison, Reverend Dunn was Associate Pastor at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, Montclair, NJ, under the pastorate of Reverend Elizabeth Campbell. In 21 years of ministry, he has served as Associate Minister, Assistant Pastor and Director of Christian Education, all of which have given him a unique understanding of churches and people.
As Reverend Dunn states,
“I believe that the call to ministry is the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life. To stand in the line of the Apostolic succession and be entrusted with “this treasure in an earthen vessel” is humbling. I reflect on the text that states, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway...” (1 Corinthians 9:27).
I do not take lightly the charge to proclaim God’s word and lead God’s people. I must be a servant first and minister unto Him who has called me to this task. The Bible is God’s word revealed to me without error and that communion and baptism are the two ordinances left by the Lord Jesus Christ for the church to observe.”
Reverend Dunn is employed at Marshall Cavendish Corporation, Tarrytown, New York. Working in corporate America, Reverend Dunn has always sought to translate what he has learned back to the community that he serves.
Reverend Dunn will begin his ministry at First Baptist Church of Madison on June 1, 2014 during the 10:45 AM Morning Worship Service.
