Revel announce the Maxwell Football Club will bring their annual National Awards Gala to Ovation Hall on Friday, March 14 at 5pm. The extraordinary event, sponsored by the Judge Group, will celebrate the 2013 football season and present the Club’s National Awards at the Professional, Collegiate and High School levels. Professional football’s most respected athletes, coaches and personalities of both current and former seasons, such as Eagles’ Head Coach Chip Kelly and Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, are expected to attend.
Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced that Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos has been selected as the winner of the 55th Bert Bell Professional Player of the Year Award. Manning’s 2013 season was one for the record books as he led the Broncos to a 13-3 regular season record and an AFC West Championship. Manning helped to secure the AFC Championship and a place in Super Bowl XLVIII. Manning joins Randall Cunningham (Eagles & Vikings) as the only 3-time winner of the Bert Bell Award, having previously won the award in 2003 and 2004. He was also selected as the winner of the Maxwell Award as the Collegiate Player of the Year in 1997.
Also being honored is Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach, Chip Kelly, as the winner of the 25th Greasy Neale Professional Coach of the Year Award. Chip Kelly just completed his first year as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and led the team to a 10-6 record and a NFC East title this season. Kelly is the first rookie head coach in Eagles history to win the division in his first year on the job. Kelly also became the second head coach since the merger to win a division title in his first season on a NFL coaching staff.
The formal presentation of the 55th Bert Bell Award and the 25th Greasy Neale Award will take place at the Gala, in addition to other awards being presented including; The Maxwell Award (Outstanding Collegiate Player of the Year) AJ McCarron – Alabama; The Chuck Bednarik Award (Collegiate Defensive Player of the Year) Aaron Donald – Pittsburgh; MFC Collegiate Coach of the Year Award (Outstanding College Coach) David Cutcliffe – Duke; The Brian Westbrook Tri-State Player of the Year presented by Philadelphia Insurance Company – Rondell White – West Chester University; and the MFC Tri-State Coach of the Year presented by Philadelphia Insurance Company – Bill Zwaan – West Chester University.
