REVISED-Sparta High School Baseball Beats Pope John 6-2, Softball Loses 3-2

SPARTA, N J-Sparta High School baseball beat Pope John 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon.  Dillon Mendel pitched six innings for Sparta earning three strikeouts and giving up eight hits.  Kevin Foulds contributed with a home run. Alex Bowie also scored. And both earned an RBI. Michael Meisel had two RBIs for the day.   Foulds then finished out the game on the mound without giving up a hit. 

This win at home brings Sparta's record to 12-5.  Morris Knolls will come to Sparta on May 9 for the next Spartan varsity game. 

Sparta softball lost at Pope John in a close game.  The final score was 3-2.  Sparta's softball record is 11-7 on the season so far.  They will go to High Point High School next Monday, May 12.
