BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Max Mahoney, a 2016 Ridge High School graduate who recently completed four years at Boston University, has signed a pro basketball contract to play for a German team.

Mahoney, a 6-foot-8 forward, recently signed with the VFL Kirchheim Knights, a team that plays in the ProA, the second highest stage league in Germany.

Mahoney led Boston University to the Patriot League Tournament championship over Colgate last March, one night before the cessation of all pro and college sports in the United States the week that the COVID-19 pandemic was declared. Boston University would have advanced to the NCAA Tournament had it not been canceled.
