WESTFIELD, NJ — Wayne S. Augenstein, 66, of Clark, was arrested in Westfield Oct. 13 after the driver of another vehicle said Augenstein got out of his car wielding a metal baseball bat and threatened to beat him with it, according to Captain Scott Rodger of the Westfield Police.

The two drivers had gotten into a verbal argument over right of way on Raritan Road in Clark. The alleged victim stopped his vehicle as he was crossing into Westfield when, he told police, Aguenstein got out and approached him with the bat, cursing and threatening him.

The man drove away and called police, who caught up with Augenstein on Rahway Avenue by Edgar Road.  Augenstein was arrested for terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken into custody pending further investigation, Rodger said.
