Robbers Snatch Purse Containing Phone, Cash in South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – A Maplewood youth was robbed at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 as she was walking on Valley Street near First Street.

The victim, a juvenile female, told police she was approached by three people who told her they wanted to use her cell phone. When she didn’t give them her cell phone, they threw her to the ground and stole her purse, which contained her cell phone and cash.

The victim described the robbers as two black males and one heavy-set black female, all in their teens. The Detective Bureau is investigating the crime.
