ROBBINSVILLE, NJ -- The Robbinsville Police Department is investigating multiple motor vehicle burglaries and thefts that took place during the overnight hours of a February 6, police officials announced Monday.
According to the statement officers responded to multiple calls in the area of Honeysuckle Drive, Hillside Drive, Ivanhoe Drive and Christina Lane where cash, wallets and other miscellaneous items were stolen from the victims' vehicles.
A source at the Robbinsville Police Department told TAPinto Hamilton/Robbinsville that there have been "a lot of these burglaries in the region" and they are considering a connection between these incidents. The suspect in these incidents is said to check vehicle's doors and "moves right by the vehicles that are locked. Only in one incident has the victim's car doors been locked.
In nearby South Brunswick Township 24 burglaries have been reported since early January similar to the Robbinsville incidents, leading police officials to believe they may be connected.
Robbinsville police have strongly urged that car doors should be locked at all times and an exterior light left on as a deterrent. In addition, police officials have warned that residents should not confront a potential suspect; rather they should immediately call 9-1-1 and report suspicious activity to the police.
The Robbinsville Criminal Investigation Unit is actively working these burglary and theft cases. Patrols have been increased in the affected areas.
