Rock Legends Gramm, Balin to Team for Benefit Concert for Slick Aguilar

January 22, 2014 at 5:13 PM

NEWARK, NJ - Tickets went on sale Wednesday for a benefit concert to aid ailing musician Slick Aguilar, the lead guitarist for Jefferson Starship.

Featuring Lou Gramm, formerly the voice of Foreigner, along with special guest Marty Balin, formerly of Jefferson Airplane/Starship, the March 14 concert will be held in the Victoria Theatre at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).

A guitarist for more than 40 years, Aguilar has been seriously ill with Hepatitis C, which required a liver transplant.  This debilitating disease affected his ability to perform, contributing to insurmountable medical bills and living expenses for his family.

All proceeds of the concert will go to Aguilar’s ongoing health management and treatment. The wellness benefit concert will take place at 8 p.m. with limited VIP meet-and-greet tickets available.  Tickets can be purchased at

According to Steve Silverman of North Caldwell, a friend of Aguilar's who is producing the concert, "It was important to me to help out a friend but it was even more important to Slick to bring awareness to those who may be suffering from Hepatitis C and are not even aware of it as well as encouraging organ donation.

"Slick is a great guy and fantastic musician and I cannot think of anyone who deserves this benefit more," Silverman said. "Concert-goers should know that numerous musicians have lent a hand by autographing guitars, posters, and drumsticks which will be available for purchase at the concert with proceeds also going to assist Slick with his medical expenses,"

It is not really ...
