Roseland Library Presents Wide Array of Family Events

ROSELAND, NJ - The Roseland Free Public Library has a slew of free events open to the public which are perfect for area families trying to beat the winter doldrums. For more information on any of these programs, and to register for specific events, please call 973-226-8636.

Wednesday, Jan. 23 - Simple Projects, Wearable Art
Just today, a Library representative commented, “It's not too late for kids to get their dinosaur on! Toddlers and preschoolers can join us tomorrow at 11:30am to noon to take part in a dinosaur-themed Simple Projects for Little Fingers and make a craft featuring everyone's favorite prehistoric creatures!” No advance registration is required; the public is welcome.

Wearable Art is a program available for school age children and older. Kids meet at the library from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. “Projects for bigger fingers,” commented the Librarian.

Tuesday, Jan. 29 - Simply Stories and Coloring
Simply Stories and Coloring will be held this coming Tuesday, Jan. 29. Families can choose from four different times: 10am, 11am, 2pm, and 3:30pm. The program is free. No advance registration is required; the public is welcome.

Wednesday, Jan. 30 - Simple Projects, Wearable Art
Crafty Wednesdays takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Toddlers and preschoolers, ages 2 and up, will enjoy Simple Projects for Little Fingers from 11:30am to noon, while older kids can create Wearable Art between 3:30pm and 4:30pm. Advance registration is not required for these free programs, and all are welcome.

Friday, Feb. 8 - African Clay Mask Making Workshop
“Reserve a spot now for our children's African Clay Mask Making Workshop, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8!” expressed the Librarian. “Participants will learn about the culture of Africa through song, dance, history, and creating a cool mask to bring home!”

Kids, school-age and older, can create, design, and decorate their own African clay mask and learn about the very interesting culture of West Africa. The free Mask Making event is part of the Library’s Little Steps Workshop which runs from 6:30pm to 8pm on Feb. 8. The program is free. Space is limited, and participants are required to register in advance.

Friday, Feb. 15 - Tween & Teen Time
“Calling all tweens and teens! The library has started a group just for you!” commented a Roseland Librarian. “We are planning year round activities, and the next "Tween & Teen Time" gathering is on Feb. 15 from 4:45pm to 6:15pm. There will be pizza! It’s free and all are welcome, but advance registration is a must! Call the library to register! Hope to see you guys then!”

Sunday, Feb. 17 - Celebrate Carnival Season
“Save the date, Sunday, Feb. 17!” expressed the Librarian. “Go for the gold, and green and purple! Join the Roseland Free Public Library in celebrating Carnival Season with live musical entertainment by Peter Gumbo and the Bayou Ramblers, a magic show, face painting, and traditional New Orleans food.”

The program runs from 1pm to 5pm, and the band will perform from 2pm to 4pm. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
