ROSELLE, NJ - The Roselle community joined together on Saturday morning to spruce up up the borough for spring.
Roselle Mayor Jamel Holley, Council President Kim Shaw, and Council Member Yves F. Aubourg joined in with Donald Shaw head of the Roselle Parks Department, Roselle DPW, The Princess Foundation, Big Brothers, Daisy Girl Scout and Brownies Troops and Roselle Residents to plant flowers in a few areas of the town. A light breakfast was supplied, courtesy of Pinho’s Bakery, and then the fun began.
Plantings took place in the boxes in front of Borough Hall, the Community Center, and at the Entrance to Roselle on St. Georges Ave.
Everyone had a good time while learning from Roselle resident Miss West who was leading the group by teaching everyone about the flowers and how to properly plant them. Showing how far away to plant and how deep.
“I love doing this. It’s the best therapy you can get. It takes all of your troubles away” said Miss West as she had just finished showing some children how to plant their flowers under the Borough of Roselle sign at the entrance to Borough Hall.
While it was heard from a few kids that “the dirt feels weird”, they sure did not mind digging right into it. A few of the children were already talking about next year when they get to do it again.
In the end, it all looks beautiful and everything was finished before the late afternoon when Mother Nature moved in to help out by water everything.
