ROSELLE, PARK, NJ - The Roselle Park Arts Festival 2018 committee has announced that Citizen Sane from NYC will be playing at this year's event is set for September 29.
Since the 1980’s, Citizen Sane has attracted a growing audience of music lovers who want to hear a soaring groove delivered with honesty and grit.
“We didn’t have a plan about what the music would sound like,” says frontman Dave Kaplan, who started the band with two longtime Greenwich Village buddies. “But you could tell right off we knew the energy we were looking for.”
The band’s followers are as diverse as New York City itself and that they all come looking for the same thing, music that scratches and snarls like a 1970’s vinyl record but clearly is happening right now said one committee member.
Members of the band include seasoned professionals of the New York City music scene, Dave Kaplan on rhythm guitar and vocals, Clay Chalem on lead guitar, Paul Vercesi on saxophone, Doc Karlin on bass guitar and John Rubin on drums.
Singer/Songwriter Dave Kaplan, calls himself a “serious music student --from doo-wop to hip-hop – with a Ph.D. in raising hell.” Known for their effortless improvisations off solid platforms of rock, jazz, blues and funk, fans have been recently treated to live performances at Sidewalk Cafe, The Well, The Red Lion, and Desmond’s Tavern.
