August 17, 2014 at 7:14 PM

ROSELLE, NJ -The first and biggest “Football Jamboree” of the season came together as 10 organizations played their first scrimmage of the year, hosted on Saturday in Roselle by Roselle Pop Warner.

Teams from Franklin, Maplewood, Newark, Linden, Edison, Orange Irvington, Montclair, Passaic and Roselle participated in the event. The players ages ranged from 5 years to 15 years old.

The schedule started early with FLAG at 10:00 a.m. followed by TINY MITES, MITEY MITES, JR. PEE WEES, PEE WEES and ending at 5:30 with the JR. MIDGETS teams. A football game would not be complete without the cheerleaders. The Roselle Cheerleaders were there to cheer everyone on.

“This is our third Jamboree and the biggest event yet,” said Kevon Beresford, head coach of Roselle Pop Warner. “It’s a great day for the kids and gives them a first chance to get out on the field and compete.” Beresford also said, “I couldn’t have done it without the help of my support staff who worked until midnight last night and was back out here on the field at 7 a.m. today. We just wanted to make sure it was a great experience for everyone.”
