Round Guys Brewery in Lansdale, Sly Fox Brewing Co. in Phoenixville, and Appalachian Brewing Co. in Collegeville have been confirmed thus far for the Lansdale Public Library Founders Day Beer Tasting event on Aug. 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., sponsored by Friends of the Library.
At Monday’s Library Committee meeting, library director Tom Meyer said Harvest Grill at The Shoppes at English Village in Horsham Township will be providing food and appetizers at the event.
Meyer said Whole Foods cannot participate (as a sponsor) in the beer tasting, and the Friends of the Library is considering asking Wegmans.
“They’ll be at the health fair part of Founders Day,” Meyer said. “They’ll be around.”
“Wegmans might be a good choice,” said committee member, and council vice president, Steve Malagari. “If Wegmans is a no, reach out to Giant.”
Tickets are $20 per person, or two for $30. Designated driver tickets are $5. Tickets are available at Lansdale Library.
“We are hoping to sell at least 80 tickets,” Meyer said. “We can do that pretty easily.”
Last month, Malagari had suggested asking Prism Brewery in Upper Gwynedd, Forest & Main in Ambler Borough and Free Will Brewing Co. in Perkasie to take part in the beer tasting.
Last year, the Friends of the Library hosted a wine tasting event during Founders Day. There was a complication, however, as August is harvest season for wineries.
Founders Day runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 23 in downtown Lansdale Borough, culminating with fireworks from Memorial Park, best viewable from Penndale Middle School's fields.
This year's theme is "A Town That's Hot," as Discover Lansdale is recognizing Fairmount Fire Company's 125th anniversary.
