WATCHUNG, NJ - A one-car accident on Route 78 early Thursday morning claimed the life of 2012 New Providence High School graduate Tori Crisafi, 20.
According to New Jersey State Police, the 2010 Honda Civic Crisafi was driving went out of control, spun off the highway, went into the center median and then collided with a tree near milepost 42 in Watchung at about 2:47 a.m.
Crisafi was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour later.
Crisafi was a defensive standout at sweeper on New Providence High School's girls soccer teams that won back-to-back Group 1 state championships in 2010 and 2011. She was a co-captain of the 2011 Pioneers' championship squad.
"I was extremely saddened to hear about tragic event involving Tori," said New Providence varsity girls soccer coach Scott Murphy, who coached Crisafi in high school. "She was such a special person who had a tremendous impact on everyone who knew her. Tori had a contagious personality that would brighten anyone's day. My heart and prayers go out to her family in this tragic time."
