WARREN, NJ - All lanes of Route 78 West were closed on Sunday afternoon following several motor vehicle accidents, and later eastbound lanes east of Warren were closed pending investigation of a more serious accident.
The state Department of Transportation announced the road closure, west of Exit 40 in Warren Township at approximately 12:30 p.m. The DOT reported an expected delay of 10- to 15-minutes for motorists.
State police said the accidents on Route 78 West Sunday afternoon were attributed to cars spinning out from black ice on the roadway, and no serious injuries were reported.
Later on Sunday, the eastbound lanes of Route 78 were closed following a serious crash, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
The accident occurred west of Exit 48 in Springfield just after 2 p.m. One man was killed and another injured in a two-car crash, authorities said.
