ROXBURY, NJ - Students from the Roxbury Day Care Before and After School Program have talked a lot about being kind during the COVID-19 pandemic, decided recently to put their talk into action.
The children made Valentine's Day cards that were sent to Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna, Regency Nursing Home in Dover, Veterans in Lyons Hospital and soldiers overseas (these were sent by way of country music channel 94.7).
Shortly afterward, wanting to do more, they made "Thank You" cards that were presented to the Roxbury Police Department and Fire Department volunteers. They also presented them with donuts from a local bakery.
Roxbury Police Sgt. Steve Curtiss and Chief Mark Palanachi came to the Franklin School to talk to the kids and thank them.
To honor a Navy veteran's 91st birthday, the students also made birthday cards for him. They were delivered this week.
