ROXBURY, NJ - Roxbury Fire Company 1 in Succasunna is hosting a vendor fair in November, something organizer Jennifer Markle hopes will be a successful fundraiser for the group of volunteer first-responders.
Markle, a Succasunna resident who has been a firefighter with Company 1 for almost 10 years, said the she and her colleagues would love to see at least 50 small businesses participate in the Nov. 3 event.
“This is the first time we’re holding a vendor fair, Markle said. “We’re hoping to make it an annual thing if not semi-annual.”
The fair will take place in the firehouse on Main Street, said Markle - who also serves as manager of the building’s rental hall. It will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The firefighters are considering expanding the event to include food trucks and other attractions outside the firehouse - maybe even getting township permission to close Main Street for a bit, she said.
Markle said 10-foot-by-10-foot spaces at the vendor fair will be sold for $25 each. There will also be rectangular tables rented to vendors for $10 per table, she said.
In addition to raising money to help the fire station, the vendor fair will be a great way for people to get some holiday shopping done, noted Markle. Admission will be free.
"There's so much that needs to be done for the holidays," she said. "Having this in November gives time for people to order ... to be done with shopping early."
Markle said vendors who are interested in participating in the fair can email her at email@example.com or call 973-590-4960.
