CHATHAM, NJ - The Roxbury High School girls soccer team reached 1-1 on the season Saturday by beating Chatham at Haas Field.

The Gaels beat the Cougars 2-0 in a game that left Chatham 0-2 so far this year. It hardly matters that the scoreboard at Haas Field is currently out of commission. The Chatham girls soccer team hasn't been able to light it up much recently.

Morgan Joyce scored both goals for Roxbury. She was assisted by Lauren Ernst and Lauren McGowan. Roxbury goalkeeper Emily Honig made 10 saves.

Meredith Enslow crosses the ball into the box and Caroline Crouse's shot is just wide for Chatham in the second half

Grace Van Sciver's free kick for Chatham from the top of the 18 forced the Roxbury goalie to deflect it over the crossbar

One way Roxbury managed to contain Chatham's offense was to give striker Audrey Van Wie her own personal defender, who followed the Lady Cougar freshman wherever she went on the field.

The Gaels next play Sept. 20 against Morris Knolls.
