ROXBURY, NJ — The Roxbury Rotary club continues to expand its ranks and on Sept. 24 the club welcomed two new members.
At its weekly meeting, the club inducted Norman Lippmann and Sam Sarfaraz from Kingtown Diesel in Ledgewood. On hand for the induction were Roxbury Rotary Club President Bill Diamond, long time member Donald Schuld and past president Charles Posegate.
With the addition of Lippmann and Sarfaraz, the club has 33 members and is growing, said former president Steve Alford. He said eight newcomers have joined the club in the past 12 months.
"While many other clubs in our district have faltered during the COVID-19 crisis, we have not only maintained membership, but we have been able to grow," he said.
Alford attributed that to the club's ability to "stay vibrant by still doing things in our community, where possible, and still helping those in need. And when a new person joins the club, not only do we get their experience, but we get their new energy and ideas. That allows us to never remain stagnant."
Alford noted the club meets every Thursday for lunch at LaStrada in Randolph from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. He invited prospective members to consider visiting. "Please stop by and say 'hello' and your first lunch is on us," Alford added. "We would like to see our club with 100 members in it so there would be no cause large or small that we couldn't help," Alford said.
