WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Rubino OB/GYN Group held a celebration over the weekend for staff and patients in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the West Orange-baesd on-site mammography center. As Friday was International Women's Day, Rubino OB/GYN Group felt that honoring the patients who have been screened over the last year was a fitting tribute.

The Rubino OB/GYN Group is the first OB/GYN practice in the state to offer modern, 3D mammography services within its facility. The new mammography center, located in the Rubino Group’s West Orange office, has offered women the convenience of having annual well exams and mammography screenings during the same visit.

“It has been an exciting year for our practice as we continue to bring innovative approaches and advanced healthcare technology to our patients,” said Dr. Robert Rubino, founder of The Rubino OB/GYN Group. “Over the past year, our mammography center has become a convenient option for patients, enabling them to take control of their own health with a mammogram screening as part of an annual checkup.”

According to Rubino, many patients have mentioned that they would not have gone for a mammogram without the convenience of having it as part of their checkup appointment.

“We received a thank you note from a patient who had an early stage breast cancer detected at our center,” he said. “She only decided to get the mammogram because it was readily accessible. This patient’s positive prognosis could have been much different had she delayed having the 3D mammography screening.”

Digital 3D mammography, also known as breast tomosynthesis, is a detailed screening and diagnostic breast imaging tool to improve the early detection of breast cancer. Advanced screening allows better visualization of breast abnormalities and has been shown to detect a higher percentage of cancers than 2D imaging and reduce the need for additional testing.

The Rubino OB/GYN Group offers sophisticated, non-invasive solutions to women’s healthcare in a welcoming and patient-centered environment. Mammograms are available to all women, not just patients.
