SAGE Awarded $1,000 “Share the Love” Grant from Meals On Wheels

SAGE Eldercare Meals On Wheels volunteer Linda Delma of Summit is pictured loading up her Subaru Forester.  SAGE was recently awarded a $1,000 grant by Subaru of America for their participation in the “Share the Love” event during the 2013 holiday season.  During last year, SAGE delivered more than 44,000 meals to approximately 250 older adults in parts of Union, Essex and Morris Counties.  To learn more about Meals On Wheels or volunteering at SAGE, please call 908-273-5554 or visit www.sageeldercare.org.

SAGE Eldercare is proud to announce it has received a $1,000 grant from the Meals On Wheels Association of America on behalf of Subaru of America, Inc. for its participation in the company’s sixth annual “Share the Love” event.  For every vehicle sold or leased between November 21, 2013 and January 2, 2014, Subaru donated $250 to the customer’s choice of charity.  Among the five national choices, the Meals On Wheels Association of America was included for the sixth straight year.

“We are very grateful for the grant funding from Subaru.  The award will enable us to serve additional older adults in our communities who really need our help with the delivery of a daily hot meal and a safety check,” stated Jessica Rosenzweig Gruber, Executive Director for SAGE.

For the “Share the Love” campaigns, SAGE has partnered with Multi Subaru of Union and has received a total of $2,500 in grants for the past three years.   During the 2013 holiday season, Facebook and Twitter posts were used to raise awareness of senior hunger in the area and promote the collaboration with Subaru.

“We are overwhelmed by the support of Subaru customers who generously selected Meals On Wheels as their beneficiary,” said Ellie Hollander, Meals On Wheels Association of American President and CEO.  “As a result, our hardworking programs all around the country can deliver more nutritious meals, safety checks, and smiles that serve as a lifeline to America’s homebound seniors.”

“This event continues to make us very proud,” said Subaru Chief Marketing Officer, Dean Evans.  “Having given nearly $7 million to Meals On Wheels programs over the last six years, Subaru is making a real difference in the lives of seniors in local communities.”
