SAGE Earns 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator and GuideStar Gold Level

December 19, 2013 at 1:02 PM

SAGE Eldercare’s sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.  Earlier in the fall, SAGE also received the gold participation level with GuideStar Exchange, which indicates the highest level of transparency and accountability provided by the premier source of nonprofit information.

“SAGE’s 4-star rating with Charity Navigator puts it in a very select group of high-performing charities and the GuideStar gold rating places SAGE among the top 3% of rated organizations,” noted Jessica Rosenzweig Gruber, Executive Director of SAGE Eldercare.  “Achieving these high ratings demonstrates to our supporters that we take our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously.”

In order to be awarded both of these high ratings, SAGE had to meet the review levels set forth by Charity Navigator and GuideStar, respectively, that demonstrates the organization is a fiscally responsible nonprofit with governance and ethical practices, as well as openly sharing basic information with donors and other stakeholders.

“In the current economic environment, it’s important that our donors trust that we’re using our funding wisely to be a leading provider of programs and services to support the changing needs of older adults, their families and caregivers,” stated Dawn Knill, SAGE’s Director of Development.  “SAGE’s supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when they make a donation to our organization.”

Donations to SAGE’s Annual Fund can be made online at www.sageeldercare.org or by calling the development office at 908-598-5503.

Charity Navigator is the largest charity evaluator in America and its website attracts more visitors that all other charity rating groups combined.  The organization helps guide intelligent giving by evaluating the Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency of roughly 5,500 mid-to-large sized charities that garner roughly 50% of all private contributions made in the USA each year (not including houses of worship.)  More information on the organization can be found at www.charitynavigator.org.

GuideStar USA, Inc. (formally known as Philanthropic Research, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 1994.  Their mission is to revolutionize philanthropy and nonprofit practice by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make better decisions, and encourages charitable giving.  GuideStar USA, Inc. does business under the name “GuideStar” and operates the GuideStar website to deliver up-to-date nonprofit information to the many audiences who are seeking the information.    Additional information on GuideStar can be found at www.guidestar.org; reviews on SAGE Eldercare can be viewed or added by searching for the organization on the same website.

For the past 60 years, SAGE Eldercare has been helping make the communities we serve an amazing place to age.  The organization provides a wide array of information, support, and services designed to help people lead the most independent and active lives possible.  From helping with errands, to exercise classes, community programs, and home health care, SAGE’s expertise helps you remain in your own home.  SAGE is committed to being the leading provider of programs and services to meet the changing needs of older adults, their families, and caregivers throughout Union, Essex, Morris and Somerset Counties.  For more information, please visit www.sageeldercare.org.

Most of us take our fingers and hands and elbows ...
