SAGE Eldercare, a nonprofit organization in Summit dedicated to the needs of older adults in the surrounding area, is kicking off its 60th Anniversary year with a contest, which is free and open to the public.
The purpose of the “Celebrating 60 Years” contest is to celebrate what makes aging wonderful. Contest submissions can be drawings, photos, essays, poems, collages or testimonials and may be used by SAGE to promote events and programs.
“SAGE is proud to be celebrating 60 years of helping people maintain their independence by aging in place,” stated Jessica Rosenzweig Gruber, Executive Director of SAGE Eldercare. “We are hoping that residents of all ages will join in our celebration by sharing an artistic rendition or story that demonstrates what is great about aging or the inspiration that they get from an older adult they know. Then, during February, we would like input from the community-at-large to help select the winners.”
The deadline for submissions, which should fit on a piece of paper no bigger than 8-1/2” x 11”, is Friday, January 31, 2014. They should be mailed or hand-delivered to SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad Street, Summit, NJ 07901. Each entry should contain the first and last name of the entrant, their age, postal address, phone number, and email address (or that of the guardian for entrants under the age of 18) on the back of the submission.
Beginning Monday, February 3, 2014 until Friday, February 28, 2014, the public is invited to come to SAGE and vote during normal business hours, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Winners will be announced by the end of March 2014.
Full contest rules can be found at www.sageeldercare.org/utilities/calendarlist.html.
