SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Sampton Avenue will be closed Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to road construction. The road work is part of the borough’s 2013 Road Improvement Program.  Earlier this month the borough repaved Skene Drive, Bollinger Way and Libourel Road.

The second phase of the 2013 Road Improvement Program was to repave Sampton Avenue, Lowden Avenue, Willow Avenue and part of Oakmoor Avenue.  Lowden Ave has already been completed.  Oakmoor Ave and Willow Ave will be completed Thursday, and Sampton Ave is scheduled to be completed on Friday.  According to Borough Engineer Len Miller, “The borough should have all of the roads being repaved in the Sampton Avenue phase of the 2013 Road Improvement Program completed this Friday, weather permitting.”

Next week, the remaining roads of Lafayette Place, Strong Place, and Sims Place are scheduled to have their road work begin. The 2013 Road Improvement Program is being performed by Stilo Excavating of South Plainfield. The contract totaling approximately $600,000 was awarded by the Borough Council earlier this year.
