PARKLAND, FL- Daily increases in Parkland and Coral Springs decreased as well as the percent positivity rate on Saturday. 

Total people vaccinated to date are 1,479,622 in Florida and 120,179 in Broward County. Per Governor DeSantis' Executive Order, the vaccine can only be given to long-term care facility residents and staff, persons 65 years of age and older, health care personnel with direct patient contact, and persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers.

The percent of positive results ranged from 6.54% to 12.39% over the past 2 weeks and was 6.54% on Friday, January 22, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.

Parkland Schools have a total of 82 cases through the latest data on January 16, 2021.

Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Saturday, January 23, 2021:

Florida: 1,639,914 total confirmed cases, an increase of 12,311 since yesterday. 

Broward County: 165,045 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,149 since yesterday. 

Parkland: 1,772 total confirmed cases, an increase of 9 since yesterday. 

Coral Springs: 9,118 total confirmed cases, an increase of 77 since yesterday. 

Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 25,164 an increase of 153 since yesterday.  

Broward County: 7,989 (4.8%) total hospitalizations with 2,018 (1.2%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 7 since yesterday.  The median age is 39.

Broward County Percent Positive: 13.5% per the latest data on January 20, 2021.

Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 889 (16.4%) beds available and 78 (16.0%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on January 22, 2021.

  • Heron Heights Elementary: 6 cases
  • Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 21 cases 
  • Mary Help of Christians School: 4 cases
  • Park Trails Elementary: 17 cases
  • Riverglades Elementary: 12 cases
  • Somerset Parkland Academy: 11 cases
  • Westglades Middle School: 11 cases
