PARKLAND, FL- Florida added 12,000 new cases and over 200 deaths on Saturday. On Saturday, Florida showed the lowest percent positively in the past two weeks.
Total people vaccinated to date are 937,630 in Florida and 85,294 in Broward County. Per Governor DeSantis' Executive Order, the vaccine can only be given to long-term care facility residents and staff, persons 65 years of age and older, health care personnel with direct patient contact, and persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers.
The percent of positive results ranged from 8.55% to 13.01% over the past 2 weeks and was 8.55% on Friday, January 15, 2021. The percentage calculated is for people that test positive for the first time and does not include people that had previously tested positive.
Parkland Schools have a total of 62 cases through the latest data on January 9, 2021.
Here are the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Florida Department of Health as of Saturday, January 16, 2021:
Florida: 1,560,186 total confirmed cases, an increase of 12,119 since yesterday.
Broward County: 157,590 total confirmed cases, an increase of 1,138 since yesterday.
Parkland: 1,675 total confirmed cases, an increase of 15 since yesterday.
Coral Springs: 8,591 total confirmed cases, an increase of 85 since yesterday.
Deaths in Florida related to COVID-19: 24,005 an increase of 205 since yesterday.
Broward County: 7,835 (5.0%) total hospitalizations with 1,957 (1.3%) deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths increased by 2 since yesterday. The median age is 39.
Broward County Percent Positive: 8.6% per the latest data on January 14, 2021.
Broward County Hospital Bed Availability: Hospitals have 967 (18.0%) beds available and 87 (17.8%) adult ICU beds available per the latest data on January 15, 2021.

- Marjory Stoneman Douglas: 19 cases
- Mary Help of Christians School: 3 cases
- Park Trails Elementary: 17 cases

- Westglades Middle School: 10 cases
