PATERSON, NJ - Citing an uptick in COVID-19 cases locally and throughout New Jersey Mayor Andre Sayegh declared Wednesday that restaurants, bars, and nightclubs across Paterson must close at midnight until further notice.
The city is averaging about 40 new positive cases per day this week, Sayegh said, compared to 23 last week.
Restaurants may remain open beyond midnight for pick up and delivery.
“Since March our city has come together, in many cases by staying apart, and while it hasn’t been easy it has been important,” Sayegh said. “This battle isn’t over but I can assure you we are in a better potion than ever to defeat this invisible enemy.”
