SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Mayor Al Smith and Santa Claus rode up high to light Scotch Plains Township's Christmas Tree on Sunday, Dec. 2, in front of the Municipal Building on Park Ave.

Although rain canceled the horse-drawn carriage rides, the celebration continued despite the damp weather. The event featured family photo opportunities, cookies and hot chocolate courtesy of the Scotch Plains Fire Department and volunteers from Union Catholic, and a choral group from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

In conjunction with the celebration, the Osborn Cannonball House Museum was opened to the public.
