SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Police Department is hiring additional school crossing guards for the upcoming 2014-15 school year.
Crossing guards are required to work two shifts per day when school is in session, from 7:45 - 8:30 a.m, and from 3 - 3:45 p/m. Monday through Friday.
School crossing guards are paid $34 per day, with an incentive bonus of three full days' pay given to those with a perfect attendance record for the school year. If the schools declare a snow day, crossing guards will be paid provided they work the day before and after the snow day.
The Summit Police Department provides uniforms and training. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and provide their own transportation to the crossing posts. Anyone interested may pick up an application at the Summit Police Department, located at 512 Springfield Avenue or visit the employment section of the City of Summit website.
