Scotch Plains-Fanwood Baseball Edges Watchung Hills in 8 Innings

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The Scotch Plains-Fanwood varsity baseball team stayed hot with a 5-4 victory over Watchung Hills in eight innings Monday in Scotch Plains.

Sophomore Tyler O'Brien's two-run single with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Raiders (6-3) the victory. It was the fifth victory in the last six games for SPF since April 11. 

Zach Lipshitz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the victory. Kevin Maxwell, Christian Isolda and Christian Zazzalli each had two hits for SPF, which erased an early 2-0 deficit.

Watchung Hills, which had gone ahead with a run in the top of the eighth, fell to 5-6 with the loss. The visiting Warriors had won four in a row prior to Monday's extra-inning loss.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood is scheduled to take on Westfield on the road Tuesday afternoon.
