Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Soccer Defeats Phillipsburg 6-0; Advance to Sectional Semi-Final

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The Scotch Plains-Fanwood (SPF) Boys Soccer Team won their sectional quarterfinal matchup against Phillipsburg 6-0 on Friday at Wexler field.

David Valian led the strike for SPF with his first varsity hat trick. “It’s great to score one goal, but to score three is just the best feeling in the world, nothing beats it,” said Valian.

Justin Rodriguez started off the scoring for SPF with a goal in the opening minutes of the game.

Valian added two goals of his own before the first half came to an end with SPF up 3-0.

In the second half, the Raiders scored three more goals at the hands of Zach Lipshitz, Valian, and James Murphy. Phillipsburg failed to find the net.

SPF has outscored their opponents 15-0 so far in the sectional tournament.  The Raiders aim to continue their hot streak against Millburn in the semi-final on Tuesday at Wexler field.
