February 27, 2014 at 9:58 AM

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School girls basketball team defeated Millburn 62-37 during Senior Night in a strong outing on Tuesday.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s Katie Harper led the attack with 17 points and 4 assists. Micaiah Battle added 15 points and 6 rebounds.

“We came out and were ready to play because we haven’t had a game since last Thursday,” Harper said. “We have gotten a lot more comfortable with each other and used to playing with one another over the course of the season.”

Scotch Plains-Fanwood (SPF) got off to a quick start and never looked back, outscoring Millburn by 9 points in the first quarter and then extending the lead to 20 points by halftime. They then outscored Millburn 28-23 in the second half to secure the victory.

The seniors of Scotch Plains-Fanwood all started the game, adding a special touch to Senior Night.

“I’ve had a great experience with basketball and I don’t ever want to forget it,” said senior Megan Welch. “I’ve met some really good friends over the years playing basketball and it’s going to be weird not to be playing with them or cheering them on next year.”

Scotch Plains-Fanwood will take on Morris Knolls on Friday at 5:30 PM at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. It will be the team’s last home game of the season.
