Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools to Open Sept. 9

August 26, 2013 at 11:08 PM

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – Public schools in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood district will open later than usual this year.

Instead of opening two or three days after Labor Day, as is customary in the district, SPF schools will not open until Monday, Sept. 9. The unusual delay in opening is attributable to the Jewish high holy days of Rosh Hashanah falling on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6.

The schools will not get any days off, however, for Yom Kippur, which falls on a weekend this September.
