Scotch Plains Mayor Elect Kevin Glover Expresses Thanks and Calls for “Moving Forward”

November 12, 2012 at 7:43 PM

Dear Editor,

I first want to express my heartfelt thanks to our Township employees for their dedicated work during Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, with a special thanks to our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department and Rescue Squad for their dedication in keeping our township and all our residents safe.

Clearly, in the aftermath of the storm, we need to focus on improving communications within the Township so our citizens can be kept better informed on what is going on around them.  I heard often as I traveled the Township the frustration of our neighbors. They told me over and over again, “I can deal with bad news, but not with no news”.

Throughout the campaign, I maintained that the November 6th election was a defining moment for our Township that poses this very basic question: Are we going to continue the failed partisan policies of the past, or shall we embrace a new vision, new ideas and new leadership to move our Township forward? Well, the people have decided and as the election results show, they have decided decisively to move our Township forward.

To those who would continue to engage in nasty political rhetoric, and have no interest in building a better community, I say it’s time you show some bipartisan leadership, or follow those who are willing to lead.

Councilwoman-elect Colleen Gialanella and I are excited to have the opportunity to serve our Township.  We are humbled by the outpouring of support we received from residents across the Township. As we have said, we pledge to work every day to make Scotch Plains more affordable and improve our quality of life. It’s a pledge we take seriously.

Sincerely,
Kevin Glover

What Do The PSAT Results Mean?

Fall 2016 PSAT results will be available Monday, Dec. 12 online for high school students and parents. This year, we anticipate that junior students’ percentile rankings will be lower than last year’s.

Why?

This year, the College Board can compare student performance with actual performance from the last year.  In 2015, the College Board used a convoluted ...

Prevent Homelessness – Build Affordable Housing in Every Community

December 7, 2016

Dear Editor:

The first time I heard the story being told by a homeless mother who was staying in our church as part of Family Promise’s program, I knew I had to become an advocate. Becoming homeless could happen to any one of us!

The loss of a job; illness of the major breadwinner, or an increase in rent due to gentrification can catch families in a downward ...
