Scotch Plains Police Seize $60K of Drugs

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Scotch Plains Police executed a search warrant on a house in the 1400 block of Terrill Road on Tuesday, April 9 and found a large indoor “marijuana grow” operation in the basement and several pounds of marijuana with a street value of $60K.

Members of the Scotch Plains detective bureau and the Union County Narcotics Strike Force conducted the search, and as a result, Ciro Perrone, age 27 and Jennifer Rodriquez age 28 were arrested for maintaining a drug production facility in their residence, a first degree crime, distribution of marijuana in a school zone, a third degree crime, and possession of marijuana, a fourth degree crime.

Police also seized dozens of live marijuana plants, several thousand dollars in cash, distribution materials and paraphernalia.

Perrone and Rodriquez were taken into custody at their residence, transported to the Scotch Plains Police Department where they were charged.  Bail was set at $450,000 for Perrone and at $125,000 for Rodriquez by a Superior Court Judge and then they were both transported to Union County Jail.

Their next court appearance in Union County Superior Court is set for April 17.  According to Scotch Plains Police Chief Brian Mahoney, the investigation is ongoing.
