SUMMIT, NJ - Girls Varsity Softball Team member Joanna Scott and Boys Varsity Lacrosse player Sam Bebout have been named Summit High School Athletes of the Week, presented by The Alternative Press of Summit, for the week ending April 6.
Each week throughout the school year, one girl and boy athlete will be honored for distinguishing herself / himself in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.
In two games, Scott -- a senior captain -- had three hits, a game winning RBI against David Brearley High School, and 3 stolen bases.
“Joanna is diligent, hard working, and committed. She is an excellent leader, and comes through in clutch situations,” said Head Coach Rachel-Gordon Killeen.
Goalie Bebout has begun the season in outstanding form, making 33 saves and possessing a save percentage of 69%. The senior captain made multiple big saves in wins over Delbarton, St Joe's, West Essex, and Sparta. The team is currently 4-1, and ranked in the top ten in the state.
"Sam has been a player who brings a great attitude to the team. He is a quiet leader who leads by example. He has a great work ethic, and he continues to improve his game every day. " said Head Coach Jim Davidson.
