CORAL SPRINGS, FL – The Sears store at the Coral Square Mall will be closing in early April, employees said.
Signs all over the store announced the closing: “EVERYTHING MUST GO” and “NOTHING HELD BACK.”
The store has about 75 workers, employees said.
Hundreds of Sears stores have been closing in the past few years across the nation. In November, Sears’ parent company, Transform Holdco, announced that it was closing nearly 100 stores. The store’s closing at the mall was first reported by Coral Springs Talk.
For many shoppers, the closing in Coral Springs was no surprise.
“There was too much competition,” said Claire Steingo, who has shopped at the store for decades. She’s purchased all of her home appliances there: washing machine, dryer, and refrigerator.
“It’s sad to see it go,” she said. “It was always reliable.”
