LIVINGSTON, NJ - On Sunday, June 8, bicyclists of all ages will be taking to the streets as part of the second annual Bike Livingston bike tour.
The tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the grounds between Town Hall and the West Essex YMCA, and will offer a choice of three routes---a leisurely four-mile route, a seven-mile loop or a more challenging 13-mile route. The routes have been laid out by the Bike Livingston committee in consultation with the Police Department, with an eye to safety and traffic patterns, as well as to accommodate leisurely riders and those who want a longer, more challenging ride.
Prior to the ride, at 9 a.m. there will be a bike safety check and assistance in making sure helmets are well-fitted. Helmets are mandatory for all riders, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult on the ride.
Following the tour, at about 11:15 a.m., all riders are invited for refreshments, closing ceremonies and the Amazo Magic and Fitness Show at the Pergolas between the YMCA and Town Hall.
Registration for the tour is free, thanks to the sponsorship of the West Essex YMCA, Barnabas Health, ShopRite, Regal Bank, Eastman Properties and CPG.
Flyers and registration forms are available at the librarym, the West Essex YMCA, on-line at bikeLivingston.org and facebook.com/bikelivingston. Pre-registration is encouraged and will be accepted through June 6. Participants may also register on ride day, beginning at 9 a.m. on the grounds between Livingston Town Hall and the West Essex YMCA.
