SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - A Seton Hall University student has died after falling from the campus' parking deck on Tuesday, according to a letter to the school community from the University's Interim President, Mary J. Meehan Tuesday afternoon.

South Orange Police Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at about 12:15 p.m., that an individual had fallen from the roof of the parking deck located on the campus of Seton Hall University, according to a statement from South Orange Police Chief Kyle M. Kroll.

Upon arrival officers found a man laying on the grass median adjacent to the parking deck’s vehicular exit, who was later determined to be a Seton Hall student, age 23, stated Kroll. In a letter from Meehan on Tuesday evening, the student was identified as Julian M. Mislavsky, a senior at Seton Hall who was from Morristown.

Mislavsky had sustained life threatening injuries, and was treated at the scene by emergency personnel, and transported to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m., stated Kroll.

The cause of death will be determined pending the results of an autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the preliminary investigation reveals no evidence of foul play, stated police.

The incident is continuing to be investigated by detectives at this time, and any individuals or witnesses having any information pertinent to this investigation are encouraged to contact Detective Lieutenant Brian McGuire of the South Orange Police Department at (973) 763-3000 x. 7788.

Meehan's letter also included information for counseling and support services available to the campus community.

"During this difficult period, I urge all of us to take care of one another and offer your support as needed. Let us offer our prayers for this young man, his family and loved ones, and all those affected by tragic loss," wrote Meehan.

Meehan also wrote that there will be a memorial service on campus, "but until the arrangements can be finalized I ask you again to remember Julian and his family and friends in your prayers."
