SPARTA, N.J. – Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church welcomes the community to its Holy Week events, beginning with Palm Sunday Worship on April 13 at 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Worship continues during the week with Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services. The week culminates with EasterSunday Festival services.
“As peoples' live have become busier, we celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus in Jerusalem as well as the Passion of the Crucifixion during our PalmSunday worship services,” remarked Shepherd of the Hills’ Pastor Kristina Reyes. “This encompassing worship service is meant to prepare and engage the worshiping community in the mystery and grace of God.”
On Maundy Thursday, April 17, the evening will start with a Soup and Supper get-together at 6:30 p.m, followed by a church service at 7:30 p.m. On Good Friday, an hour of devotions will be held at noon, followed by a solemn service of Word and Meditation at 7:30 p.m.
“The drama of Holy Week culminates with Easter joy, capturing the heart of the Christian message, a powerful spiritual and educational experience for both long-time Christians and those new to the faith,” Reyes said.
Easter Worship will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. with an opportunity to share an Easter breakfast between those services.
Shepherd of the Hills welcomes people of all backgrounds to meet, learn, share and celebrate the teachings of Jesus Christ. Sunday church services are held at 8 am for a traditional worship and 10:15 a.m. for a family worship.
