WEST ORANGE, NJ - Shoplifting arrests top the West Orange Police Blotter news for October 1-7.

October 1

Graffiti:Reports of graffiti in the area of Nicholas and Terrace Avenues by painting “Creep” on a street sign and “SLOB” on a utility box were received by police.

Criminal Mischief to Motor Vehicle:  A crossing guard at Gregory Place and Mitchell Street reported that who she believed to be a seventh grade middle school student kicked the rear trunk lid of her vehicle, causing a large dent.  She will contact police when she sees him again.

Shoplifting/Arrest: Kipchoge Seale Washington, 43, of East Orange, was arrested at the Valley Road CVS for removing Similac Baby Formula and diapers valued at $108.94, concealing them in a black shopping bag, and attempting to exit the store.

Shoplifting/Arrest: Thandeka Erika Sealey, 23, of Newark, and an unnamed 15 year old juvenile from East Orange were arrested for attempting to take candy bars and $135 in makeup from the Valley Road CVS.

October 2

Shoplifting: Lucila Rojas Depes Santez, 55, of West Orange, was arrested at the Essex Green Shoprite for attempting to exit the store without paying for consumables and toiletries totaling $41.83.

Shoplifting: Brian Eugene Ayers, 48, of Orange, and Gregory Alston, 49, of Orange, were arrested for placing $259.36 in toiletry items into a black and blue backpack and attempting to the exit the CVS on South Valley Road without paying.

October 3

DWI/Arrest/Crash:  Elizabeth Cardona, 53, of Roselle Park, was arrested after her 2003 Jeep Liberty struck multiple vehicles on Main Street.  Police observed the vehicle traveling on Harrison Avenue heading into Montclair at 12:53 am, with heavy front end damage, and missing its front right tire.  The suspect was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident; DWI; failure to report an accident; and reckless driving.

Theft of Motor Vehicle:  A 1998 blue Jeep Cherokee was stolen while parked curbside on Ridge Avenue.

Burglary to Residence:  A resident on Joyce Street reported the forced entry into their residence through a window in the rear of the residence.  An air conditioner had been pushed through, entry was gained and the alarm sounded, scaring off the intruders, who left with nothing.

Attempted Burglary to Motor Vehicle:  The owner of a 2001 gray Audi A4 reported driver’s side door damage after an attempted forced entry, which was unsuccessful.

Shoplifting:  Lawrence Jones, 42, of Orange, was arrested after attempting to steal an Electro Therapy Pain relief device and two bottles of Gain detergent, totaling $98.00.

October 5

Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicle:  $600 in currency was taken from a 2007 Dodge Caravan on Watchung Avenue.  Victim reports that she locked the vehicle but lost her second key about two months ago, and believes that the actor may have possession of that key.

October 6

Attempted Burglary to Residence: A homeowner on Crestmont Road reported to police that an unknown person had attempted to gain entry into his home by cutting a screen slider door.  However, the glass slider door was locked and secured with a safety bar, and the window the intruder then attempted to enter was also locked and secured.

Criminal Mischief:  Luna Grocery on Main Street reported an attempt to break the front window of the store, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
