SHORT HILLS, NJ – The second annual House Tour Benefiting Autism Awareness will be held on Saturday, May 3, from noon to 3 p.m. Organized by Melanie Rosenbaum, a mother and a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Premier Properties of Essex, Union, and Morris Counties, the House Tour will grant access to some of the most high end and exclusive homes in Short Hills.
Participants will enjoy the beautiful neighborhood and the amazing homes all while helping to raise autism awareness. All of the proceeds of tour will go to Autism New Jersey to create Classroom Resource Kits for New Jersey teachers.
“These kits will provide a means to allow teachers to teach understanding, patience, and build acceptance of others within their classrooms all while raising autism awareness,” said Rosenbaum. “Autism affects an astounding 1 in 49 children in New Jersey and these Classroom Packs will contain all the essential tools necessary for an elementary teacher to be supported in helping to raise this awareness.”
Before becoming a Sales Associate at Keller Williams Premier Properties, Rosenbaum was a first grade teacher for many years and knows first-hand the challenges of a child with spectrum issues in the classroom.
“Being a part of creating these special kits to truly support the teachers giving to our community, that will provide so much for our children, while spending an afternoon seeing the greatness Short Hills has to offer... is what it is all about for me,” Rosenbaum said. She is also on SEPAC (Special Education Parents Advisory Committee of Millburn Township), MSPEC (Millburn Special Education Committee), Caring Kids, and the Parent Education Town-wide Committee.
