WESTFIELD, NJ — South Avenue East is shut between approximately Cacciola Place and Sussex Street due to power lines and a transformer in the roadway.

As of 7:10 p.m. Friday, PSE&G workers are on the scene along with police and firefighters.

The lines came down during what appears to have been a single car crash involving a Toyota minivan shortly before 6 p.m. The pole appears to have snapped and the black minivan, which remains on the scene, sustained front end damage.

The Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad responded. There were no serious injuries, police said.
