Single Stream Recycling for Sparta Residents

By THE ALTERNATIVE PRESS STAFF

March 20, 2014 at 12:15 AM

SPARTA,NJ- Beginning on March 31, Sparta Township Solid Waste Utility customers will no longer need to separate the cardboard and plastic and glass recycling.  The new garbage contract allows for single stream  recycling.

While your weekly collection day will remain the same, residents can now put all recycling materials into one single container at the curb.

All materials should be put into the container loose.  Newspapers and cardboard should not be tied, though boxes can be stacked and folded into a cardboard box.   Plastic bags can be used for shredded paper only.  The recycling container should not weigh more than 50 pounds.

All styrofoam is to be disposed of  in the regular garbage.

The township has free recycling decals available at Town Hall.

Additional information can be found on www.spartanj.org  under  Solid Waste and Recycling.  The Solid Waste and Recycling coordinator can be reached via email at recycling@spartanj.org or by calling 973-729-6174.
