PEAPACK AND GLADSTONE, NJ - Independent candidate Gregory Skinner has won the election to become the new mayor of Peapack and Gladstone, according to the unofficial election results provided by the Somerset County Clerk’s Office.

Skinner got 55.2 percent of the 1,066 votes cast. Republican candidate William Muller received 44.8 percent of the vote. Mayor Paul Vallone concludes his term at the end of this calendar year.

Republican John Sweeney and Democrat Jamie Murphy were elected to the borough council with 36.6 percent and 33.1 percent of the vote, respectively. Republican Donald Lemma, who received 29.9 percent of the vote, was the other candidate for council.
