CLARK, NJ – Six fun-filled weeks at Clark’s Summer Recreation Camp came to a loud and carnival-like close on Thursday. Music, ice cream, dancing and lots of water activities marked the end of another season of a local summer tradition.
“These six weeks just flew by,” said Recreation Director Ralph Bernardo. “It has been a delightful summer. The campers and staff have been wonderful, simply the best ever. I can’t believe it’s over already.”
On this final day of camp, children spent the day in bathing suits, throwing and ducking pails of water and fire hose spray, while boogying to popular music and enjoying ice cream with their friends and counselors.
According to Bernardo the camp averaged 625 campers per day this year with a total of 1265 registered for the summer. Closing day saw an attendance of almost 700 campers. The highest ever on a final day of camp was 785 said Bernardo before running off to join the dance party at the sound of his favorite song, Sweet Caroline. Video here:
