BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Dr. Patrick Smith, on behalf of the Smith Chiropractic Foundation/BH5K, presented a check for $1,000 to Police Chief Jason Massimino and members of the Berkeley Heights Police Department in support of the fundraiser for the New Police Department Defensive Tactics Training Center in the new BHPD headquarters.
This new training facility will enhance officer safety while providing personnel with verbal, mental and physical deescalation training and techniques that will consequently decrease liability and injury, Sgt. Ed Gaffney previously reported to TAPinto Berkeley Heights.
"The center will be utilized to expand our defensive tactic classes and train officers from other departments throughout the county. The Center will also be used to expand our offerings such as self-defense for college bound students and women's self-defense to residents of Berkeley Heights," he said.
