MAPLEWOOD, NJ -  Smokehouse BBQ, owned by Maplewood resident Trevon Woolford, has opened at 1546 Springfield Avenue, at the intersection with Boyden Street, at the former site of T-OP Ice Cream and Fried Chicken.

Smokehouse BBQ features smoked meats: brisket, pork, and chicken, as well as side dishes which include a variety of seasoned fries and homemade mac ‘n cheese. According to Woolford, all the meat and chicken is raised on farms with no GMOS, hormones, and antibiotics, and the restaurant only uses all-natural ingredients.

The restaurant's official first day was Saturday, Sept. 1, with the opening celebrated with plenty of food as well as face painting for the kids and colorful balloons around the parking lot.

Currently, the restaurant opens at 11 a.m., Tuesday to Saturday, with plans to add an additional day in the future.
