SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Union County Dec. 8 advising drivers to go slowly and use caution because of snow in the afternoon mixing with sleet this evening.

Visibility may be reduced to a mile with light snowfall or half a mile in moderate to heavy snowfall, according to the service, and temperatures will be cold enough for snow to accumulate up to a few inches, making for slippery conditions on untreated surfaces as well as bridges and overpasses.
